LAMDA

We offer LAMDA lessons at Prince's Mead School. These are drama classes that prepare pupils for exams set by the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art.

Pupils will develop skills such as confidence, performance, self expression, understanding of literature and teamwork.

We offer the subjects of Introductory Level (for Year 2 children), Speaking of Verse and Prose (Year 3 to Year 6) and Acting (offered from Year 4 to Year 6). Lessons will be for 30 minutes, in groups of 2 or 3 pupils.

Introductory Level

LAMDA Introductory Level is designed to develop confidence and basic communication skills, and to introduce the learner to the communication and performance elements of LAMDA. Pupils will develop skills in voice and diction and develop their conversation skills.

Speaking of Verse and Prose

In Speaking of Verse and Prose which is a subject from the Communication Syllabus of LAMDA, pupils will develop effective oral communication of the written word. They will learn to engage imaginatively with the thought, emotion, style and form of a text whilst developing skills in voice, diction and posture.

Acting

In Acting which is a subject from the Performance Syllabus of LAMDA, pupils will develop the skills necessary to communicate dramatic text to an audience. They will learn to explore style, form, character, subtext and context in order to realise the specific demands of the text. Through performance they will develop their skills in voice, diction and movement.
